Police Martyrs’ Day

    202

October 21, is observed as Police Martyr’s Day across the country. This day is observed in the memory of many police personnel who were martyred on duty with the spirit of sacrifice for the nation. On October 21, 1959, 10 police constables of the police force were martyred in an attack by Chinese soldiers who were dangerously ensconced while patrolling in a desolate snow-covered area on the Indo-Tibet border and 2500 Hot Green border in Ladakh. This day should be remembered and the memory of soldiers who were martyred while on duty in terrorist attacks, Naxalist operations, social unrest and violent acts in the country is brought to light on this day.

Police are described as 24 hours on duty as they are ready 24 hours a day to serve the public. Be it Ganeshotsav or Navratri, Dussehra or Diwali, Eid or Christmas, they are always ready to keep the people of the country safe. When we celebrate these festivals with our family in our home, they stay away from the family for their safety. It is because of them that we can celebrate all festivals and celebrations with joy. In any disaster, be it man-made or nature-made, the police are the first to be there to protect the public.

The entire world has seen what the police can do for public safety in the 26/11 Pakistan sponsored attack on Mumbai. It was only because of the bravery of the police that the plot of Pakistan sponsored terrorists to attack Mumbai backfired on them. The police saved Mumbai by risking their lives. Many policemen were martyred in this attack. By sacrificing their own lives, the policemen saved the lives of Mumbai citizens. Even in the communal riots of 1992, the work of the police was unparalleled.

In an epidemic like Corona, the importance of police has been further highlighted. The work done by the police to protect the countrymen from the corona epidemic is not in vain. Even though Corona killed thousands of policemen, the policemen did not budge from their duties even for a moment. The Prime Minister gave him the title of Kovid Yodha for his work against Kovid. The title of Kovid Yoddha given by the Prime Minister was well deserved. In order to maintain law and order in the country, many jawans are martyred to protect the motherland by staying on duty for twelve to eighteen hours without taking any leave, regardless of their families.

It is the duty of every citizen of the country to remember the martyred policemen, some of whom die while fighting against the anti-national forces like terrorists and Naxalites. On this day, Pushpachakra is given to martyred policemen at Police Martyr Memorial on behalf of the government. This day is very important and sacred for all the police force officers and employees of the country. Greetings to martyred policemen on the occasion of Police Martyr’s Day!
